Nusavoxmedia.id – Sebuah patung macan putih di Desa Balongjeruk, Kecamatan Kunjang, Kabupaten Kediri, Jawa Timur, menjadi perhatian publik setelah videonya viral di media sosial. Patung tersebut menuai beragam komentar karena bentuknya dinilai tidak menyerupai harimau pada umumnya dan disebut mirip gabungan zebra, kuda nil, hingga tapir.
Kepala Desa Balongjeruk, Safi’i, menjelaskan patung macan putih itu dibangun sebagai ikon desa yang terinspirasi dari legenda lokal. Dalam cerita masyarakat setempat, macan putih dipercaya sebagai penjaga desa sehingga dipilih sebagai simbol identitas Balongjeruk. Pembangunan patung tersebut, kata Safi’i, telah melalui musyawarah desa yang melibatkan tokoh masyarakat dan pemuda.
Safi’i menegaskan seluruh biaya pembangunan patung, termasuk material dan ongkos pematung, tidak bersumber dari dana desa. Total anggaran yang dikeluarkan sebesar Rp 3,5 juta dan berasal dari dana pribadinya.
“Anggarannya bersumber dari kantong pribadi saya sendiri. Sebab, saya yang menginisiasi pembuatan patungnya. Bil haq, bukan dari dana desa,” ujar Safi’i pada Sabtu (27/12/2025) dikutip dari TribunNews.
Ia juga menjelaskan penggunaan dana desa tidak dilakukan karena peruntukannya diatur untuk program tertentu, termasuk ketahanan pangan. Meski hasil akhir patung menuai kritik, Safi’i mengaku tidak mempermasalahkan komentar publik dan menjadikannya sebagai bahan evaluasi.
“Semua kritik dan saran kami terima. Insyaallah patung ini akan kami perbaiki agar lebih aman dan lebih baik ke depannya,” kata Safi’i.
Pematung patung macan putih tersebut, Suwari (60), mengatakan pengerjaan patung dilakukan selama 18 hari dengan sistem borongan. Ia mengerjakan patung seorang diri tanpa bantuan kuli, dengan waktu pengerjaan sekitar setengah hari setiap harinya. Ongkos yang diterimanya sebesar Rp 2 juta, sementara seluruh material disediakan oleh kepala desa.
“Saya mborong kerja. Saya kerjakan sendiri selama 18 hari tanpa bawa kuli,” ujar Suwari.
Menanggapi kritik terkait bentuk patung, Suwari menyebut dirinya telah bekerja sesuai permintaan dan gambar yang diberikan. “Itu kan permintaan Pak Kepala Desa. Untuk membuat patung macan putih sesuai cerita desa. Sudah sesuai dengan gambar, hanya beda lorengnya. Di gambar kuning, di sini loreng putih disesuaikan cerita,” katanya.
Sejak viral, patung macan putih tersebut menarik perhatian warga dari berbagai daerah. Pengunjung berdatangan untuk melihat langsung, termasuk dari luar kota seperti Surabaya.
